The Challenge
Explaining complex software workflows in multiple languages
In recent years, Rational AG has been expanding its operations into new international markets, with a particular focus on China. This expansion brought about a critical need to efficiently communicate the functionalities of their Enterprise Resource Planning software SAP S/4HANA to the Chinese workforce. The challenge was twofold: Firstly, ensuring that the intricate details of the new system were clearly communicated in an engaging and visual way, and secondly, overcoming the language barrier between German headquarter and Chinese locations to facilitate seamless knowledge transfer around the globe. Traditional methods, such as hiring external trainers were guaranteed to be time-consuming and costly, prompting the need for a more innovative solution.
The Decision
Enabling expert teams to share their knowledge with Clypp
Faced with the daunting task of training a large number of employees across different regions, Rational AG sought a more efficient and cost-effective method. The team responsible for global process management chose to implement Clypp, aiming to empower every employee to create and share informative video tutorials with the help of AI. This decision was largely driven by the realization that leveraging in-house expertise would eliminate the need to hire external trainers. Clypp´s AI-driven speech and translation capabilities promised to overcome language barriers, making it an ideal solution for their global operations.
Implementation
Within 2 weeks from kick-off to productivity
The implementation of Clypp at Rational AG marked a significant improvement in their internal documentation processes. The extremely user-friendly interface allowed employees at all levels to produce intuitive and engaging video tutorials, simplifying the knowledge-sharing process by a wide margin compared to previous, entirely text-based documentation. The onboarding phase proved to be short and effective. Within the first two weeks, employees at Rational AG were able to produce (video) Clypps entirely by themselves. Moreover, the AI voice-over feature was thoroughly tested by bilingual colleagues and approved by a rate of 99%. This functionality ensured that Chinese workers could fully comprehend the tutorials, regardless of the original language of the content. The seamless integration of Clypp into Rational AG’s existing systems including SAP and Microsoft 365 facilitated a smooth transition and quick adoption by employees.
